Lord Murugan begins His journey, the Lord rides on His silver chariot towards the Batu Caves Sri Subramaniar Swamy Temple. Surrounded by devotees and ambiance filled with colourful flowers, scents of incense and music, the Lord is seen in His full glory. 
 

Purification of the Body and the Awakening of the Soul 

A devotee initiates his journey, purifying himself with water with his mind of his beloved Lord Murugan. Water is one of the 5 elements, plays an important role in Hindu rituals and is believed to have cleansing powers. 

 

The Journey to Lord Murugan…

Kavadi bearers undergo intense preparation for weeks before the actual act. During this period, devotees fast by adopting a restricted vegetarian diet, practice celibacy, and meditate on God. 

The act of penance gives strength to the devotees to carry the kavadi without any hurdles, as their thought is only filled with love and devotion to Lord Murugan. #VelVelMuruga

Lord Murugan is the embodiment of beauty, valour, and compassion. He graces his devotee as God, helps them as a friend, guides them as a teacher and guards them as a saviour.
